Why Breakfast Marauders?
Life is short. Life is busy. As a wife and mother of 3, I am no stranger to the pulls of our lifestyle on quality time spent with those we love.
My oldest daughter is married, off at college with her husband. We don't see her often, and greatly cherish the moments we have with her as the time she was with us growing up flew by. Her sister, the middle child, is also in college, but she chose to stay home and be a commuter and we only see her when her schedule allows. When these two were in high school and middle school together, they both participated in sports and school events that kept us in bleachers sometimes 4 nights a week, and standing in the cold, rain and snow on Saturdays for cross country and track meets.
Our youngest is in 8th grade. She is not into sports, but loves dancing. So while we take her to dance classes 3 nights a week, our schedule is not as crazy as it was.
My husband and I sit back and look at the void that we have this year. We are used to running everywhere. High School sports puts us not only at our local school for events, but also at many different locations and schools. We are now home. What do we do? And it dawns on me, where have I been?
I live 5 miles from the home I grew up in and 7 miles from the home my husband grew up in. Our parents both still live in those homes. Living so close to them, you would think we would see them often, but we don't. We have allowed the busyness of our lives to take over and leave them in the dust to which I am now finally able to see.
So, I have decided to mend that fence and put my dad and I on a mission. I can sit at home and mope in my new found time (yes, we are sad that we have time that we have complained about for years not having enough of) or we can get up and do something about it.
So my dad, lucky as he is, was volunteered for this mission. We are going to find the best place in Michigan to get breakfast.
