10/31/2020 - D's Diner, Morley, MI

This week's breakfast location was in a sleepy little town on the western side of Michigan.  D's Diner is located at 315 N Cass St in Morley, Michigan.  We did have to pay close attention as we were traveling here and trying to find it, as there was not a notable sign out front to draw your attention to their building.

I chose this location this week because we were going to meet my oldest daughter, Shirley and her husband Colin for breakfast as they were on their way to spend the weekend with us.  Colin and Shirley are both Seniors at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan.  This location was on their way home.

As far as the food goes, it was your normal diner fare.  Omelettes, hash browns, pancakes, french toast, etc were all on the menu.  The restaurant itself was very quaint.  The decor inside was homey, a country feel, very appropriate for the location of this diner.

We all had eggs in some form or another.  I chose scrambled eggs myself since I am not a fan of runny eggs 😩.  My eggs were cooked well.  Shirley and I both had bacon with our meals.  The bacon was on the crispier side, however was thin enough to make me wonder if it wasn't pre-cooked.  The last item I had with my breakfast was american fries.  These came out different than what I am used to at most places, made from yukon gold potatoes instead of the normal russet or idaho.  The flavor those was very much similar and they were tasty.

Shirley and Colin both had runny eggs See the source image and they seemed to enjoy them.  The coffee here was a bit stronger than we typically get.  Not as bold as I like it, but still good and far better than we have gotten at other places.

The best part of our morning was getting to sit and enjoy time with Shirley and Colin.  They are very busy working and going to college, and we enjoy every minute of time they have to spare and share with us!

If you are traveling through this area and looking for a place to stop and eat, I would without hesitation.  Everything was good, properly cooked, and the diner was clean.
